John McCain's surprise Vice Presidential selection of Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, garnered joyous reaction from the Republicans, conservatives, and Hillary Clinton supporters that felt mistreated and abused by the Democratic party. But what did former Governor of Arkansas and former runner-up in the 2008 Republican primaries think about being passed up by McCain for the VP slot? Here is his reaction on Fox News' Hannity & Colmes show:

I'm a 55-year-old woman who switched parties on 5/8/08 - six weeks before Hillary suspended her campaign - when Donna Brazile stated that the "New Democratic Coalition" was no longer interested in its "older" base. I've ardently supported McCain since then, and never looked back. However, I am extremely disappointed that you were not selected as McCain's VP, and my son is so devastated he said he may not vote at all. (I'll work on that - this election is far too important to sit out...) Your words regarding Sarah Palin were extremely gracious and diplomatic - I would not have expected any less from you. However, I feel she was chosen to create an in-road to disenchanted Hillary voters, and I am not at all at ease with Palin picking up that red phone. With you, I would have been.
Please visit www.saveformike.com and pledge to save money now for Huckabee 2012. It's never too early to put yourself in the best financial position possible to make a maximum donation to Mike should he announce a future Presidential run.
Great blog site! Thank you for letting the world see what Gov. Huckabee is really like. I was impressed with the fact that Gov. Huckabee put his own political career on the line by honestly answering direct questions when asked about McCain choosing a VP that wasn't firm on the issues most important to us values voters. Gov. Huckabee is a genuine leader willing to "do hard things" by being the someone doing the something.

Denisemary, Thank you for that touching tribute to Mike....
I was one of the many volunteers thru hucksarmy who has worked daily since January for Governor Huckabee (blogging making calls and writing people) first for President and then vp. For the secomd time around I have been heartbroken and brought to tears because I so strongly believe he is the visionary man who has the right answers both socially and fiscally for this country. He has the unique gift of being able to go from making the most powerful awe-inspiring speech and 10 minutes later shaking your hand and making you feel immediately as if he is an old friend. I will support the McCain/Palin ticket but my heart and dedication is to Governor Huckabee. I truly believe he DESERVED to be on the ticket and is the people's choice. Palin is a good woman and shares Huck's social dedication to the right to life. I agree she is vp because of the Hillary supporters and I also agree Hillary supporters would all LOVE MIKE... I am still hoping and praying to see Mike Huckabee as our commander in chief.
Mike Huckabee was too good to be merely Vice President. He is Presidential material.
This year was not his year. It was however, a GREAT way to introduce himself to the nation. Huckabee has accomplish so much within 3 months. He has the next 4 years or more to prepare for a potential 2nd run for the Presidency.
Patience is a virtue. Some people have it, others don't. Huckabee has it. I hope those who read this blog does too!
Yes, I think Sarah Palin was an excellent pick by John McCain. If I end up voting for McCain, his selection of Palin will give me all the more reason to cast my vote for him.
By the way I like Mike Huckabee. I don't agree with him a lot but he is enjoyable to watch and listen.
Gambit, I agree. I meant no disrespect with regard to Huckabee as VP. Frankly, both my son and I would love to see him as our PRESIDENT, but it didn't pan out that way. So I am voting Republican for the first time in my life because Obama is simply not an option. This will not be a "hold my nose" vote, by the way:) I respect both McCain and Palin. However, Mike Huckabee simply inspires trust all across the board. And when he speaks, he makes you feel like he is speaking directly to YOU. That's a rare gift. In any event, yes, I can wait until 2012 if he can:)
As someone who will be voting Obama/Biden, I really do wish that Huckabee had been chosen instead of Palin. His wit, grace, levelheadedness, and depth of knowledge would have complemented and counterbalanced McCain's "mavericky" nature. As it is, Palin has become a liability outside of the base. Huck would have both shored up social conservatives and not alienated independents...because the more you get to know him, the more you respect him.
I would love to see a Huckabee/Palin ticket in 2012!
